Preschool Partnerships

At Nash Speech Pathology, we are passionate about supporting children’s communication development within their everyday environments. We work collaboratively with preschools and early childhood settings to provide practical, accessible support for children, families, and educators.

Our preschool partnership programs are designed to identify communication needs early, empower educators with practical strategies, and support children to develop the skills they need to thrive socially and academically.

Preschool Communication Screenings

Our communication screenings provide an opportunity to identify children who may benefit from additional support with their communication development.

Screenings are conducted at the preschool during the day and explore key areas of communication, including:

  • Speech sound development and speech clarity
  • Understanding and following instructions
  • Vocabulary and language skills
  • Social communication skills
  • Fluency and stuttering concerns

Following the screening, families and educators receive written feedback outlining strengths, areas for development, and recommendations for next steps where appropriate.

These screenings can provide valuable reassurance for families, while also identifying children who may benefit from early intervention before commencing school.

Parent Information Sessions

We offer engaging and informative presentations for parents on a range of communication and developmental topics.

Our presentations are tailored to the needs of your preschool community and provide practical, evidence-based strategies that families can implement at home.

Topics may include:

  • Understanding speech and language development
  • Communication milestones in the preschool years
  • Supporting language development through play and everyday routines
  • Building early literacy skills
  • School readiness and communication skills for starting school
  • When to seek support from a speech pathologist

Sessions include opportunities for parents to ask questions and discuss concerns in a supportive environment. Resources are also provided for families to take home.

Educator Professional Learning

We work alongside educators to build confidence in supporting communication development within the classroom.

Our professional learning sessions are practical, collaborative, and designed specifically for early childhood settings.

Topics may include:

  • Integrating language learning into everyday activities
  • Supporting children with communication difficulties
  • Understanding the connection between behaviour and communication
  • Promoting social communication skills in group settings
  • Early identification of communication concerns
  • Collaborating effectively with speech pathologists and families

These sessions equip educators with practical strategies that can be immediately implemented within the learning environment.

Preschool Social Communication Programs

Our Social Communication Programs provide targeted support for children who would benefit from additional assistance developing social interaction skills within their familiar preschool environment.

Facilitated by a speech pathologist, these small-group programs focus on skills such as:

  • Joining and participating in play
  • Building and maintaining friendships
  • Turn-taking and cooperative play
  • Conversation skills
  • Understanding emotions and social cues
  • Flexible thinking and problem-solving
  • Confidence in group situations

By supporting children within their everyday preschool setting, we can help them develop meaningful skills that generalise naturally to their interactions with peers and educators.
